Location
Methuen: Rich in cultural history, located 30 minutes north of Boston, with easy access to major highways (495, 93 and 128).
Methuen is home to a number of historical landmarks including the Nevins Memorial Library, Methuen Memorial Music Hall, the Searles Building, Historic Tenney Gatehouse, and the Nevins Home.
Commuting
Commuter access is a major amenity of the City of Methuen. Served locally by the MVRTA (Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority). Destinations include locally The LOOP and Methuen Center, as well as access to Andover Center, North Andover Center, Downtown Haverhill, Lawrence and even the Seacoast. For those commuting to Boston, the MVRTA can also get you to any one of the local Commuter Rail Stations in this area, including Haverhill (6.4 mi.), Andover (6.1 mi.) and Lawrence (2.5 mi.).
Hospitals
Holy Family Hospital on East Street in Methuen and Lawrence General Hospital on General Street in Lawrence are both less than 2 miles away. New E-R opens Summer 2011, at Holy Family Hospital.
Schools
School age children of Appleton Square attend Timony Grammar School pre-K through grade 8 and Methuen High School grades 9 through 12.
There are also a number of private schools located in the area including Phillips Academy, Brooks School, Central Catholic and Presentation of Mary.
Recreation
Recreation abounds in the City of Methuen. If the amenities at Appleton Square aren’t enough to keep you busy, take a trip to the Town Forest/Forest Lake Recreation area which includes a 42 acre lake and 82 acres of hiking and cross country skiing. If you are looking to spend time in the sun, visit Hickory Hill Golf Course or Merrimack Valley Golf Club, both 18 hole courses are open to the public. There is also the Veteran’s Memorial Park located off Milk Street. Methuen is home to more than 25 parks and recreation areas.
